Camino de Santiago Ría de Muros Noia

La oficialización de nuestro histórico Camino de Santiago avanza a buen ritmo.

Nine municipalities will collaborate in the delimitation of the cultural route to Compostela from the #RíadeMurosNoia.

The Pazo de Raxoi recently hosted the signing ceremony of the collaboration agreement between the municipalities of Ames, Brión, Lousame, Muros, Noia, Outes, Porto do Son, Rois and Santiago for the delimitation of the cultural route to Compostela from the Muros-Noia estuary. The objective of the nine municipalities is for this route to be recognised first as a historical route, and subsequently to obtain the official declaration of the Camino de Santiago. To this end, progress has already been made in the compilation of different historical documentation, thanks to funding from the Rural Development Association Ría de Muros-Noia.

The study, as recalled by the mayor of Lousame, indicates that “there is a solid basis to demonstrate the historicity of this pilgrimage route, although it is expected in the coming weeks when we have the full report. Now, said Teresa Villaverde, “intensive field work will be carried out to determine the delimitation of the definitive route, and the conclusions will be sent to the General Directorate of Heritage of the Xunta de Galicia”.
